Hello lovelies! Today I wanted to bring you my very first weekly playlist of songs that I’ve been liking at the moment and I’m calling it The Weekly Replay.
I love so many different types of music and I’m always listening to different genres depending on my mood and mindset at the time. I wanted to make these playlists to show what I’ve been listening to because it honestly changes all the time and I can’t ever pick just one favorite song. So here we go!
Lately, I’ve been listening to a lot of trap and EDM because I’ve gone to several events in the last 6 months or so. I started off knowing nothing about this genre and I slowly worked my way up into learning certain artists. I still don’t know that much about this style of music because I just listen to the songs and pick and choose what I like, but I definitely know a lot more than what I started off with. Some people may argue that these types of songs are annoying because it may sound like repetitive noise and beats, but I personally like it for when I’m trying to get things done since the beats are quite fast so I end up doing tasks more efficiently because I’m moving to the pace of the song. I also like to listen to this type of music when I want to zone out since there aren’t really lyrics in many of these songs.
1. You Know You like It by DJ Snake and Aluna George
This song is actually quite mainstream since I believe it plays on the radio pretty often. I like the beat of this song and it’s chill in a way but it also wants to make you dance. At least, that’s how I feel when I hear it, haha.
2. Let You Go by The Chainsmokers ft. Great Good Fine Ok
I’m absolutely obsessed with this song at the moment. Like, OBSESSED. I have no idea what it is, but I find this song addicting. I could have it on replay all day and not get tired of it and I never fail to get excited when I hear it. I love the beat, the chorus, the high notes, everything. I would definitely recommend checking this song out at least once.
3. Lean On by Major Lazer and DJ Snake
This is another song I’m obsessed with. There’s just something about these beats and melodies that are so much fun to listen and dance to. I feel like I’ve heard this song a lot recently so it might be going a little mainstream, but that’s okay.
4. Bang it to the Curb by Far East Movement and Sidney Samson
Honestly, I haven’t listened to anything by Far East Movement since I was in 10th grade and “Like a G6” was still a thing, haha. But this song is pretty great. It has one of those beats that are so much fun to dance to and it’s definitely something that gets my energy up. This along with “Let You Go” is one of my favorite combinations if I need something to dance to in order to boost my mood. ☺
5. Say My Name by Odeza (Jai Wolf Remix)
Now we’re back to another chill song. I’ve listened to this song for months and I believe this came out sometime in the last year so it’s been around for a while. I just think of it as one of my “classics” because this is one of the songs I started out with when I first started listening to this genre (thanks Pandora!). This is something I would listen to when I want to write or at the beginning of my evening when I want to start unwinding. (Side note: I actually got to see Jai Wolf in person at LED USA and he was amazing live!)
6. Get Low by Dillon Francis and DJ Snake
As you can probably tell, I really seem to like DJ Snake, haha. I also really like Dillon Francis and this song is something that would make me want to start dancing without a doubt. Like a lot of other songs, I first heard this on Pandora and I actually got to hear a mix of this live at Beyond Wonderland back in March, so that was pretty cool. After “Let You Go” and “Bang it to the Curb,” this would go into my combination of favorite mood boosting songs right now.
7. Worth It by Fifth Harmony ft. Kid Ink
And now we’ll end it on a song that’s definitely mainstream since this always plays on the radio and it’s Fifth Harmony. This isn’t a trap or EDM song, but what it does have in common with some of the other songs is that it has a prominent horn sound that acts as a hook to the song during the chorus and I’ve also been enjoying those types of songs. I think my love for hearing horns in songs began when Jason Derulo brought it into his single “Talk Dirty.” I think it brings a different feel to a song and it makes it that more fun to dance to a certain song.
So that’s it for my first weekly playlist; I hope you liked this type of post and it’ll inspire you to at least check out this type of music. Or maybe these are songs you’ve listened to before and forgot about so now you can rediscover them again.
I also want to work up to creating an actual playlist in my posts so you don’t have to manually look them up, but I’m still figuring that out. However, you’ll probably start seeing that in my posts in the coming weeks once I find out the best way to do it. ☺
Let me know what songs you’ve been liking in the comments below! Thank you so much for reading and I’ll see you lovelies tomorrow!
