Today I wanted to start a series I created called Dishin’ It Out. I am definitely a foodie at heart and I’ve never been able to stick to a diet, so I eat what I want in moderation. However, in the last year or so, I started making small steps to eating healthier and today, I would say that about 70% of what I eat is healthy foods.
Last year, I slowly started incorporating fruits and vegetables into my meals and tried to drink more water. I also started cooking when I moved into an apartment and while I don’t think I’m the best cook, at least I know what’s going into my meals.
With that said, I do enjoy going out to eat, but I try to limit it. I’m nowhere near perfect with my eating habits, but I think I’ve made a lot of progress. So here’s what I’ve been eating lately!
This is one of the healthier meals I packed for school, I believe I had rice, an egg, chicken, cherry tomatoes, spinach, kale, and broccoli in this. It took me a while to transition into eating all these vegetables, but over time, they do start tasting good. They’re also inexpensive and easy to prepare!
This isn’t so healthy, but it got me through my long school days. One of my trusty drinks from Starbucks is an iced caramel macchiato with an extra espresso shot (for a total of three shots). I always thought there was only one espresso shot in this until I looked at my drink one day (such a coffee amateur haha), but besides getting a little jittery, I’ve been able to handle the caffeine well.
I don’t know about you, but I love Frostbites. I forgot what I got here, but it was really good. And I remember getting this on a rainy day, so even though it was cold, it was still worth it!
My first time at The Habit! I liked it; the burger and fries were good. I remember the people here were really nice too, so that’s always a bonus. I got this with my friends on a Sunday evening and had a relaxing meal. This place didn’t blow me away, but I wouldn’t mind trying it again.
Even though we were super full from our dinner at The Habit, we still made some room for this boba drink at Sharetea. It was our first time trying it and I liked it, even though I thought my drink was a bit too sweet.
I ordered the green tea crema and I would suggest ordering something different if you don’t have a super sweet tooth. But this was free because of their grand opening, so I couldn’t complain!
This is another one of my homemade meals. I usually make this with angel hair pasta and the rest depends on what I have in my kitchen at the moment. Here, I used zucchini, broccoli, spinach, and I believe chicken. I also add in pasta sauce since I don’t know how to make my own.
Sometimes during PCN practice, I was able to get this fruity boba drink from my friend who works at Sharetea. Every week, she would take orders, go to her shift, and bring these drinks to practice after she finished working. I forgot what drink it was called, but it was pretty good. I just wasn’t fond of the seeds from the different fruits.
This is a poor quality photo, but this was taken at my friend’s graduation dinner and it was delicious. I hadn’t eaten at a real Asian restaurant in a long time, so this was a really nice meal. We had all sorts of things, such as lobster, shrimp, noodles, among other dishes. It was so good; I definitely miss authentic Asian cuisine.
Here we go with Frostbites again; I got this recently with my friends. The one on the end was mine and this time I got swirled ice cream (chocolate and vanilla) with peanut butter. I love this flavor because you get the peanut butter taste without the stickiness. I absolutely love this flavor and this just might become my regular order from now on.
And we’ll end this on a healthy note. Over the years, I’ve grown to love oatmeal. After initially hating it as a kid, now I think it’s quick, healthy, and easy to customize. Here, I made my usual: oatmeal with milk and honey and I added frozen fruit to make it even healthier. A great way to satisfy your sweet tooth cravings; it’s so good and I definitely recommend trying it!
So that’s what I’ve been eating lately! I hope this post was enjoyable; I’ll definitely be trying to step up my photography and cooking game so be on the lookout for more posts like these. Let me know what your favorite meal/dessert has been in the comments below!
