Hopefully you all got that Coldplay reference, but welcome back to another Makeup Monday! Today I wanted to talk about a makeup look that’s a little different but totally fun and appropriate for the summer: yellow eyeshadow. It’s a little bit different and not commonly used in makeup looks, but I think if it’s used correctly, it’s a great unique look that will make your eyes stand out from the crowd.
It’s very subtle, but also wearable. It was extremely difficult to find a good drugstore yellow eyeshadow because I wanted something inexpensive since I probably wouldn’t wear it that often.
So what did I end up getting? I chose the gold/yellow shade from the Maybelline quad called Give me Gold. It has more yellow than gold but it’s pretty pigmented. Unfortunately, my camera didn’t pick up the color even though I packed it on for the photos, but it was definitely there. But here are my tips for wearing yellow eyeshadow in general:
1. Use a light wash over the lids for a bit of a different look sometimes.
2. Use it in the inner corners instead of using a white or gold shadow to brighten up your eyes.
3. Warm up the color with some light brown eyeshadow in the crease and outer corners to make it more wearable for day and night.
4. If you’re bold enough, add some dark brown and/or black for a dramatic eye look that will have heads turning.
So that’s it for my Makeup Monday post! I apologize that my makeup look wasn’t as exciting as the inspiration photos, but at least it’s wearable, haha. I challenge you to experiment with colors this summer and switch up your eyeshadow looks. Thanks so much for reading and I’ll see you lovelies tomorrow!
