Hello lovelies, I’ve got another makeup review for you all for Makeup Monday! Today I wanted to review an eyeliner that I’ve been trying out for a while now. It’s the Rimmel ScandalEyes Kohl Pencil in Brown.
I bought this eyeliner because I heard that they’re really good at staying on your waterline, deliver good pigment, and is waterproof. I also thought that having a brown eyeliner would be nice for those days where I want a more natural look but still want to define my eyes.
This eyeliner is very smooth and creamy and glides on really easily. I think it gives off a good color as well and I like the way it looks on my eyes. It has a tiny bit of shimmer but it’s not too noticeable.
The downsides to this eyeliner is that it’s really hard to sharpen and it doesn’t sharpen evenly so the pencil could become jagged which makes application more difficult. It’s also really hard to sharpen to a point because of how soft and creamy it is (edit: I realized that this was because of the sharpener I was using. I would recommend using a good quality sharpener when using this eyeliner!).
As for application on the waterline, it doesn’t stay for me personally and it can smudge as well which looks messy. I don’t have watery eyes but I’ll notice that the pencil smears after just a few hours. I like lining my entire eye sometimes for a more intense look and for photos, but I feel like this wouldn’t be a good choice for these occasions since it easily smudges.
Overall, I don’t think this eyeliner is suited for the waterline because of its creaminess. It does work well on the lid for natural definition so I prefer to use it for that. I don’t know if it’s waterproof, but since it’s such a creamy liner, I feel like it would smear a bit in water.
In the end, it’s not the best eyeliner on the market and I would suggest skipping over this product unless you’re not picky on liners and don’t mind something that might smear. I can see this eyeliner being good for defining and possibly smudging to create a smoky liner/eyeshadow look, but that’s about it. After I purchased this, I found other reviews saying that the nude liner is better than the other shades so I might give it a try and see if that works any better. I’ll still use this eyeliner, but I wouldn’t recommend it or give it a rave review.
I hope this post was helpful and that you enjoyed reading it; I’ll see you lovelies tomorrow!
