Hello lovelies! Today on Skin Deep, I wanted to talk about the newest addition to my skincare routine that I’ve fallen in love with: aloe vera gel.

Aloe vera comes from a plant that is usually used to treat sunburns. However, in recent years, it’s become a skincare trend and I’m hopping onto it as a believer that this is a necessary step in your routine, especially if you deal with a more oily complexion like myself.

There are a lot of vitamins and antioxidants in aloe vera that can improve your skin. The main two benefits that aloe vera can have is being a moisturizer and helping with acne.

One of the most important things to look for in a moisturizer when you have oily skin is something that sinks into the skin quickly and doesn’t leave you feeling greasy afterwards. With aloe vera gel, it does just that. Not only is it moisturizing, you feel like you have normal skin after you apply it. It’s super light and feels really nice on the face.

Now I’m not going to sit here and say it cures acne, but I do feel like my acne scars have faded faster since I started using this aloe vera gel. I also like to believe that it helps with the healing process of any open spots (yes, I pop my blemishes but my acne scars usually fade after a few weeks) so overall, my face looks a lot better when I use this.

I also use this product to moisturize other parts of my body as well since I have so much of it and while it wouldn’t replace a moisturizer for dry skin, it’s good for the summer when you tend to sweat easily and you don’t want that greasy feeling of lotion on your body.

So what’s my conclusion? I love using this at nighttime before bed and when I cleanse my face in the morning before makeup. It has a really nice aloe vera fragrance and sinks into the skin easily. If anything, it also leaves my skin looking super fresh and healthy when I wake up in the morning.

When I first started using this, I was so surprised at how my skin looked and felt the next day. It was literally an overnight transformation. I’ve been using this product for about 2 months now and I’m really impressed with it. I use the aloe vera gel from Nature Republic; it’s 92% aloe vera and super affordable. You can get a tub of this for under 7 bucks that will last you for months, plus they usually have deals going on. When I went, I was able to get 4 for about 20 dollars! I think that’s a pretty great bargain and it also means I have enough to last me for at least the next couple years, haha.

So that’s why you should incorporate aloe vera gel into your skincare routine! There are even more benefits to using aloe vera, but these are the reasons why I use it. I wouldn’t recommend this for people with dry skin since I don’t think it contains enough moisturizing properties, but this would definitely work for people with normal to oily skin.

Thank you so much for reading and I hope this was useful. I’ll see you lovelies tomorrow!
