Last Friday, I covered my top 10 back to school essentials; this week, we’ll be talking back to school makeup!
On a day to day basis, I tend to do more natural looks. Sometimes I might pack on the mascara and add definition with contouring and a subtle brown smokey eye, but more likely than not, I fall more on the natural side because let’s be honest, who has the time to put in a ton of effort on your face every single day when you need to run out the door for school?
So here are my makeup products of choice for my perfect everyday school look!
Let’s start off with my well-loved Maybelline eyeshadow quad. I’ve probably mentioned this in other posts, but a mixture of the gold and white shade brightens up your eyes with some pigment. The more bronze/copper color is a super easy way to add warmth to your eyes and the brown adds depth.
Right now, I’ve been into layering the white shadow onto my eyelid for even more of a brightening effect than the white and gold together and I’ll define my crease with the brown if I have time.
I’m finally nearing the end of this pot of gel liner, but it’s been my go to for a super black eyeliner look for a while now. I’m not sure whether this is the best liner ever, but it gets the job done.
This is the very popular Lash Sensational mascara. It’s been talked about a lot in the YouTube and blogger world, and for good reason.
I can easily get a natural, lengthened look with a couple light coats of this mascara, but I can also pack it on for a more dramatic/visible look. I love the curve of the wand and I feel like it deposits product generously without clumping. Definitely worth a try!
This beautiful blush is finally back in my life. Although I really like my Essence blush in Babydoll, this is the epitome of gorgeous, glowing cheekbones. This is also a cult product; it gives your cheeks a peachy glow without making it obvious that you’re wearing blush.
If that’s not enough glow for you but you’re not into strobing or super strong highlighters, maybe a roll on shimmer is what you need in your life. I use this on the highest points of my cheeks and it gives a nice highlight.
I haven’t invested much into the highlighter trend so this is how far I’m willing to go for now. I think less is more, so I don’t use too much of it since there is some glitter in it. But overall, it does give a highlight that I’m satisfied with.
For the most natural look, I go with Stormy Sahara from the Color Sensational line. This is a nude lipstick, and I’m still not used to it so I might add a lipliner underneath or a gloss on top sometimes.
Another combo that I’m a fan of is the NYX soft matte lip cream in Cannes with an Almay liquid lip balm in Cantaloupe Cream. The liquid lip balms are not very pigmented, so it would just give the lip cream a warmer, glossy look without taking away the pigment of the soft matte lip cream.
I would do this if I wanted the color of the NYX lip cream, but not as matte. You could also wear the products separately.
So those are my top picks for my back to school makeup! I hope you enjoyed it! What are your favorite makeup products for school? Let me know in the comments below; thanks for reading and I’ll see you lovelies tomorrow!
