Wow, it’s been so long since I’ve done this type of post! To be honest, I’ve been eating lots of yummy food, but usually the food isn’t photogenic (even though it tastes delicious!) or I get embarrassed to take a photo of my food. But here’s what I have captured!
A while ago, I had shabu at a place called Yojié. I love shabu because it’s actually pretty healthy since you can get brown rice, vegetables, and thinly sliced meat. They let you pick a broth and from there, you cook everything yourself. The meat cooks in seconds and you can add the vegetables in as you eat. It can get pricey, but I think it’s worth it!
TRU NATURE JUICE BAR
I also tried an acai bowl for the first time a while ago. This was at Tru Nature Juice Bar and it was delicious, and super healthy too!
I once took myself on a study date to a poke place because why not? It wasn’t my initial study location, but when I went, it was late afternoon so there weren’t too many customers.
I’m no poke expert, but I mean, just look at it. It was pretty good; I really liked the sauces they used. The portions are large (I believe this is a small!), so keep that in mind if you ever go!
BCD TOFU HOUSE
Now we’re heading into more recent territory! Last month, I finally satisfied my soondubu (Korean tofu soup) craving after wanting it for months. I would’ve taken myself, but apparently Korean culture doesn’t believe in eating alone, so I didn’t want to be judged for going on my own. Plus, it takes so long to eat everything, so it’s an experience best enjoyed with others. I went with my cousin, and if you’re looking for something to give you a food coma, this is it.
Okay, so I know I just said that my cousin and I were in a food coma after the soondubu and I could easily lie and say we had this on another night out, but the truth is that this was our dessert. We were super full, but somehow managed this bowl of fruit snow.
I mean, if you think about it, snow is a very lightweight dessert. What we didn’t expect was for our size small order to actually be a lot of fruit snow, haha. If you want to share with someone, ordering a small is more than enough!
To be honest, it wasn’t the best snow ever because the shaved ice wasn’t super flavored, but I think we also didn’t mix it up enough because we didn’t want to mess up how pretty it looked. But we’ll definitely be coming back because they have so many other desserts to try!
SNOOZE, AN A.M. EATERY
I caught up with my ate over breakfast/brunch on Valentine’s Day at this super nice breakfast place! I was too hesitant to try eggs benedict for the first time, so I settled for your typical savory breakfast since I don’t have much of a sweet tooth.
One thing I will say: I ate my toast with the eggs and I totally regret not using that jam in the little tin bowl because it was actually super good and I have no idea what flavor it is so I have no way of buying it for myself 😦 haha.
LAZY DOG RESTAURANT
My most recent food outing was at Lazy Dog Restaurant with one of my close friends. To be honest, we went for happy hour, but we hadn’t eaten all day either so we needed some food in our system.
I ordered a pizza with arugula on it, and I think it could’ve been better. While the pizza itself was good, the arugula was tossed with a vinaigrette that made it a bit sour and more bitter. It might suit other people’s tastes, but I didn’t particularly like it.
Since we couldn’t decide what drinks to get, we chose a sangria sampler so we could try them all! The raspberry was both of our favorites, the peach was too sweet for me (but my friend liked it! It tastes like an Asian peach jelly candy), and the pomegranate tasted the most like alcohol so I ended up drinking the majority of it since I could handle the taste better. Overall, we liked this place and we wouldn’t mind coming back!
So those have been my foodie adventures over the last few months! I actually had more photos than I expected to have, but I think it’s because I’ve been taking pictures of my food more often. I hope you enjoyed this post and I’ll see you lovelies tomorrow!
