MAKEUP MONDAY | END OF SUMMER LIPPIE PICKS

Happy Labor Day lovelies! As we start reaching the home stretch of the end of summer, now’s the time to out your bright summer lippies on heavy rotation before putting them away for the fall and winter months!

I personally don’t mind wearing bright lip colors all year round; I think they can brighten up a dull winter day and in sunny Southern California, we don’t get too much cold weather anyways.

So here are some of my favorite lip colors that I’ve been enjoying this summer!

1. BOTANICAL BY COLOURPOP

When I first tried this out, I was shocked at how opaque and neon this was. I would say that this would suit people who enjoy bright lip colors and have darker or really light skin tones the best. In order to make it work for me, I mix it with a lipliner to darken it!

2. CERISE PINK BY ABSOLUTE NEW YORK

I got this for free at KCon (check out my haul here!) and I’m surprised at how much I like it!

When swatched, it’s a very bright warm pink. I like to also mix this with a lipliner or I can slowly layer this and blend it onto my lips with my finger, as I’ve done in the photos below.

It has a glossy finish unlike my Colourpop lippies but you can blot it for a satin finish and it has really good staying power on the lips! This was the last color I used on my lips while I was photographing and it was hard to remove with a makeup wipe. This means that as you wear this throughout the day, it’ll fade and leave a really beautiful stain on the lips! ☺

3. OUIJI BY COLOURPOP

Ouiji is quite bright on the lips, but not as neon as Botanical. I can deepen this by mixing darker shades, but I can get away with wearing it on its own.

Here’s Botanical and Ouiji swatched (yes, I spelled Ouiji wrong because I was thinking of a ouija board, haha)

I just use the previous technique and add Ouiji to my lips while blending it out with my finger and I really love how much softer the result is.
