I never thought I would fall for a fragrance like this, but I did.

As I was browsing through Sephora on my birthday last month, I decided to give the perfume section another shot.

I’m very picky with fragrances and I like to jump from scent to scent, which is why I’ve never been able to justify buying a perfume. However, I’ve been obsessed with body sprays for years and I think one of the best compliments you can get is when you hug someone and they say, “wow, you smell good.”

I like body sprays because they’re more affordable and you can try out lots of different scents without breaking the bank, but I also liked how perfumes have a stronger fragrance and last longer on your skin.

And then I came upon this.

This is Yves Saint Laurent’s Black Opium. Its notes are coffee accord, orange blossom cedarwood essence, and patchouli essence. On Sephora, the fragrance style is noted as addictive, floral, and energetic.

This is the complete opposite of the fragrances I normally go for. I really like light, fresh, and floral scents. However, I think this smells really unique, warm, and even kind of sexy.

For now, this will stay on my wishlist, but I might want to pick up the mini version before I commit to the full size. I’ve spritzed this on my body on two different occasions before and the scent lasted all day, but I was afraid that I would get sick of the scent.

But like its name, this can be pretty addictive. Who knows, I may end up owning this scent sooner than I think.
