MAKEUP MONDAY | L’OREAL TRUE MATCH FOUNDATION

Hi lovelies, today let’s find out if the L’Oreal True Match Super Blendable foundation is worth picking up on your next trip to the drugstore!

mm.lorealtruematchfoundationreview

This foundation is actually the best drugstore foundation according to reviews.com, which is a site I mentioned in my Ultimate Foundation Guide, and it’s been around for several years now, but let’s find out if it stands up to the test.

WHAT IT CLAIMS TO DO

This foundation is supposed to be suitable for all skin types and is formulated into cool, neutral, and warm undertones with a large shade range to help you find your best match. It has light to medium coverage, SPF 17, and also contains Vitamin A, Vitamin C, wheat germ, and grapefruit extract to nourish your skin.

INGREDIENTS

Active: Titanium Dioxide 3.3%. Inactive: Water, Isododecane, Cyclopentasiloxane, Glycerin, Cyclohexasiloxane, PEG-10 Dimethicone, Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer, Butylene , Lycol, Dimethicone, Isoeicosane, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Cetyl PEG / PPG-10 / 1, Dimethicone, Sodium Chloride, C9-15 Fluoroalcohol Phosphate, Polyglyceryl-4 Isostearate, Hexyl Laurate, Isostearyl Neopentanoate, Diazolidinyl Urea, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Tocopherol, Panthenol. May Contain: Iron Oxides, Titanium Dioxide.

MY SKIN TYPE

Oily, acne-prone, and sensitive.

TEXTURE/HOW IT FEELS ON THE SKIN

Compared to the L’Oreal Infallible Pro Matte foundation, this is a bit runnier which makes it a little easier to blend into the skin. As for how it feels, it’s pretty lightweight, but I have yet to find anything that feels like you’re wearing nothing on your face.

Like I do with all of my foundations, I blend it into my skin with a brush and pat it on when I do my second layer to get more coverage.

COVERAGE

This foundation claims to give light to medium coverage, and I think that’s true. I usually go for medium coverage, but I personally find it a little difficult to get lighter coverage from it when I want to do a no-makeup makeup look. I think I’ll try my Real Techniques beauty blender to see if it sheers out the foundation!

Also, after applying this, it dries down to a matte finish, so if you have normal or drier skin, you might not need to set it with powder.

RESULTS

After an 8 to 10 hour day, I’ve noticed that my skin does get oily. However, it doesn’t break down on my skin and I don’t notice much separation if I use a good primer, setting spray, and setting powder. If I touch up with a blotting sheet and a little powder, I’m good to go again for a couple more hours, which makes the wear time up to around 12 hours.

THE VERDICT

I’m in the shade W4 Natural Beige and I’ve been testing out this foundation for a few months. I use it for everyday looks since it’s a bit lighter than my Infallible foundation and I’ve also tested it out with flash photography with good results.

This foundation really impressed me. I wasn’t expecting much since it doesn’t claim to be targeted towards a specific skin type and I didn’t read any reviews on it. I’ve just been curious about this product for a while now and decided to give it a try.

Overall, I think this is a foundation worth trying out! I’ve seen commercials for this from time to time, but I feel like this is overlooked a lot in the blogging and YouTube communities. This foundation gives good coverage, has decent lasting power, and gives you the ability to find a good shade and undertone match.

I think since the beauty industry is always coming out with new products, people tend to only focus on trying out new things and we forget about the classics. So next time you run errands at your local drugstore, don’t just pass this foundation up because it’s not brand new; give it a try and see if you like it!

So that wraps up today’s review! Have you tried out this foundation? And what are your favorite classics at the drugstore? Let me know in the comments below! Thanks so much for reading and I’ll see you lovelies soon!
