It’s unbelievable how we’re rapidly approaching the end of 2017, but I’m looking forward to the future. 🙂 Now let’s jump into my annual beauty and fashion favorites!
REVLON SUPER LUSTROUS LIPSTICK: TEAK ROSE
Picking out a favorite lip color for this year was a little harder than expected because I’ve been trying to use different lip products every day. Nothing stood out like last year’s favorites, but I chose this lipstick because it embodies my current favorite shade.
It’s a warm pink, but it’s not as bright as Pink Velvet from Revlon. It’s brighter than your typical pinky nude, but it still looks natural while adding some color to your face.
JORDANA EASYLINER: TAWNY
I mentioned this lipliner in my October product review and I talked about how I’ve been using this to create the illusion of fuller lips. It’s a my lips but better shade for me and I’ve been using this a lot since I rediscovered it in my collection!
RIMMEL STAY MATTE PRIMER
I’ve been using this primer for quite a while now; my Rimmel primer comparison post still gets views these days even though my opinion has changed since then (I have updated the post according to my current opinion on the products).
This is the best drugstore primer I’ve come across so far for oily skin. Combined with the rest of my makeup routine, I think I’ve found the best products to keep my skin looking good throughout an entire day of wear.
GERARD COSMETICS SLAY ALL DAY SETTING SPRAY
Using this with my Rimmel primer and a good powder makes my makeup lasts so much longer! I honestly don’t know what I would do without it on the days where my makeup needs to look good all day long. This is a godsend for oily-skinned girls; give this a try if you haven’t yet!
L’OREAL TRUE MATCH FOUNDATION
In terms of lasting all day with a full face of makeup, I would’ve chosen the L’Oreal Infallible foundation. But when summer came around, I wanted something that was wearable for everyday activities and looked more natural on the skin while still delivering coverage.
I picked this up on a whim because I had been curious about it for a while and I’m so happy that it’s in my life. I’ve done a whole review on it if you want to check it out, but basically this has quickly become my favorite foundation and I think all skin types should give it a try (and it can still last all day if you take care of it and touch it up!).
NAKED BASICS PALETTE
2017 was the year where I realized that regular makeup tutorials didn’t work for me because I had hooded eyes and needed to adjust my makeup accordingly. Hence, I started using this palette almost every day to define and lift my crease. My most used colors are Naked 2 and Faint and I’m always on the lookout for similar colors so that I don’t run out of these shades too quickly.
It’s also a handy palette for traveling because you have all the colors you need for a natural, slightly smokey, or super smokey look.
COLOURPOP SUPER SHOCK SHADOW: UN
This was actually my favorite single shadow last year, and I’ve continued to heavily use it in 2017. I’ve hit pan on it, which makes me sad because it was a limited edition shadow from Jenn Im’s collaboration, but it’s the perfect color to pair with brown shadows for an everyday look. I’ve been looking for a replacement, but nothing’s satisfied me quite yet.
TARTE AMAZONIAN CLAY BLUSH: PAAARTY
I didn’t expect to have a favorite blush for this year, but I haven’t been able to stop using this Tarte blush! It’s a pinky nude that compliments my skin tone and just about any makeup look. I got this in my birthday gift at Sephora and it’s a winner for me!
HOOP EARRINGS: FOREVER 21
With the 90’s trends still going strong, hoop earrings are an accessory that seems to have made a comeback. Hoops have never been “out,” but for a while, minimal studs were popular. Now, statement drop earrings have come back along with hoops of all sizes.
I personally started having fun with hoop earrings because I like the slightly different look they give me. Some people don’t look that different if they wear hoops, but for others, it makes them look more sexy or edgy, and I had a lot of fun playing around with that this year.
My Vans have been through a lot in the last year and a half. They’ve been through school, work, hikes, photoshoots, and everything in between. They’re my most comfortable shoe at the moment and they go with almost every outfit.
I’ve actually repurchased because I love them so much, but I hope I can take better care of my second pair!
YOUNG AND RECKLESS VELVET BOMBER JACKET
I don’t know if this is my most-worn jacket, but it’s definitely one of my favorites. I always feel so cool whenever I’m wearing this. I love bomber jackets as well as velvet and this burgundy shade is a perfect statement color for me.
SALLY HANSEN INSTA-DRI NAIL POLISH: EXPRESSO
For someone who doesn’t like pink, I sure have a lot of pink favorites this year. This pinky nude shade was my favorite nail polish this year because I felt like it was a pretty color that went with most of my outfits while giving off a professional look as well!
For some reason, this was my most worn t-shirt this year. I like how simple it is, but how it also has a quirky little character in the corner to make it a little different. I made a post of this outfit here!
OLD NAVY ROCKSTAR SKINNY JEANS
Lastly from the fashion category, I have to give these jeans a shout-out. Even though they’re no Levis or Rag & Bones, my black Old Navy jeans are my most comfortable and flattering jeans at the moment. Check out the rest of this outfit here!
My whole skincare routine is a favorite of mine this year, and this is the product that started it all! After trying a sample of this, I was really impressed at how moisturized and glowy my skin was in the mornings so I purchased the full-size (find my Innisfree haul here!).
I’ve become more interested in Korean skincare because of YouTubers like Joan Kim and I’ve also heard that Japanese and Korean products have stronger beauty regulations, so their products are more trustworthy.
And that’s going to wrap up my 2017 favorites! I wanted to mention so many more things, but this post is already long enough as it is! Let me know what your favorites are in the comments below; thanks so much for reading and I’ll see you lovelies in the new year! 😄
