Hi lovelies, welcome to 2018! Like everyone else, I have some resolutions for this year, so let’s get into it!
To avoid being a broken record, you can check out my previous posts here and here for my opinion on new year’s resolutions, but basically I’m a firm believer that new beginnings can start anytime. However, I don’t mind having resolutions to work towards, and it is satisfying when you can start at the beginning of the year.
If you want to see my 2017 resolutions in detail, then read about them here, but here’s an outline of what they were and whether or not I achieved them or not.
1. BE PHYSICALLY AND EMOTIONALLY HEALTHY.
This is one resolution I half-succeeded in. I plan on writing about it in a future blog post, but I’ve been at a very low point emotionally for the last year and a half and I’m just beginning to come out of it. Physically, I did lose weight and I’m quite happy with where I’m at, but I’m hoping to tone my body up and be healthier in the future.
2. LIVE LIFE WITH MORE ENTHUSIASM.
Because my mental health was not in a good place last year, I didn’t really live life with enthusiasm. It was hard to be excited about anything, which took a toll on all aspects of my life.
3. BE MORE CREATIVE WITH MY BLOG AND TAKE IT TO ANOTHER LEVEL.
I feel like I improved my blog in the last year, but I wasn’t able to take it to the level I was hoping for. As much as I love doing my blog for myself and I’m super grateful for the small audience I do have, I think it’s time to show what I can really do and gain a larger following in the upcoming year.
4. MAKE TIME FOR CREATIVITY.
After graduating from college, I expected to be more creative and I did complete a couple projects but again, because I wasn’t doing well emotionally, I feel like I held myself back.
So that’s the rundown on how my resolutions turned out last year. I’m not satisfied with the results, but all I can do is accept that 2017 wasn’t the best year for me and move forward into the new year without looking back.
And now here are my 2018 resolutions:
1. BE HONEST AND RAW WITH MYSELF.
This is going to be connected to the future blog post that I want to make about my mental health, but during the time where I was feeling down, I realized that I haven’t been honest with who I really am and what I want. And I hope that this year will be the beginning of being my true self.
I want to be blunt and fearless and unashamed; I want to prove to myself that I’m strong and beautiful and intelligent. And I hope being as raw and open as possible will be the catalyst for everything else I want to achieve.
2. GAIN KNOWLEDGE ABOUT TOPICS I’M PASSIONATE ABOUT.
After I graduated from school, I was so happy to not have homework, exams, and classes anymore. But after a few months, I started missing it. It wasn’t that I loved school that much, but besides missing the college lifestyle, I missed learning.
Now that I have more time on my hands, I’m going to start studying everything that I’ve always wanted to learn. I truly think that knowledge is power, and if you’re going to live on this earth, you might as well learn as much as you can about it.
3. PURSUE ALL OF MY PASSIONS.
Since I’ve regained some motivation and momentum in my life, I want to pursue my true passions. I love this blog so I want to start investing more time into it. I want to write more. I want to sing more and create music. And I want to give YouTube another try.
I don’t think I’ll be quitting my day job anytime soon, but I’ve realized that I don’t believe in “good things come to those who wait” anymore. I’ve been foolishly waiting around for something to come to me, but I’m determined to make things happen with my own hard work instead and I hope to be able to find a career that I’ll enjoy every day. So expect lots of content from me this year!
4. START TAKING CARE OF MY FINANCES.
This one’s quite self-explanatory, especially now that I’m in my 20s. I’ve never been that good at saving and spending money, but I can be frugal when I want to be. This year I want to make money, keep track of my spending habits, and save up money for future travels, items I want, and retirement (it’s never too early to start!).
5. BE HAPPY.
In the past, I’ve struggled with stressors from school, work, extracurriculars, family, relationships, and my own self-worth. Because of this, I always put my own happiness on the back burner.
This year, I want to do everything I can to put myself first. There seems to be a self-love/self-care bandwagon going around, but honestly it’s one of the more helpful trends out there. We should all start taking care of ourselves because being our best selves helps us live our best lives.
I don’t know what will make me happy, but I hope to find it in 2018.
I hope everyone has a good start to the new year and that 2018 becomes your year. Let me know what your resolutions are in the comments below and let’s keep each other accountable! Thanks so much for reading and I’ll see you lovelies soon!
