Hi lovelies, welcome back! Today I wanted to bring out my inner bookworm and share which books I want to read this year!
1. THE BELL JAR BY SYLVIA PLATH
I’ve heard that the plot of this novel is quite emotional, but I think that intrigues me. Sometimes we should read more stories that are realistic and don’t have positive storylines.
2. EAST OF EDEN BY JOHN STEINBECK
I’ve heard a lot about this book, so I plan on reading it to find out what it’s all about.
3. THE COMPOUND EFFECT BY DARREN HARDY
This one isn’t set in stone; I’m new to the self-help genre and I’ve started to get interested in these types of books because I keep hearing that these really do guide people. However, after reading reviews on many popular books, I’ve learned that people have something negative to say about every self-development book, so they’re pretty much hit and miss.
I do like the idea that this book seems to be going for though, so I might pick this up!
4. SEA OF STRANGERS BY LANG LEAV
I picked this up very recently and I love it so far! This is in the poetry genre and some of the pieces have already hit home for me.
5. A SEPARATE PEACE BY JOHN KNOWLES
This is a book I want to reread because it’s one of my favorite stories. There are certain lines that I really relate to, but the last time I read it was in high school, so I’m curious to see how it would resonate with me now.
6. THE FOUNTAINHEAD BY AYN RAND
I really don’t know anything about this book besides the fact that the first time I saw it was in high school and it looked huge, but also like a challenge. I don’t know what it is about giant books, but I feel like getting through them must be a really great accomplishment. So if I get the chance, I’d like to try reading this book.
There are so many more books on my list, but I think I’ll stop here. I tend to read pretty fast, so besides the last one, I might get through these pretty quickly. One of my goals that I didn’t mention in this year’s resolutions is that I want to read more, specifically the classics. I have an English degree, but i’m ashamed to say that there are so many well-known books that I haven’t read. So I hope this is the year where that’ll change!
What books are on your reading list this year? Let me know in the comments! Thanks for reading and I’ll see you lovelies soon!
