The major fashion weeks have arrived yet again, so these next few weeks will be dedicated to lots fashion posts! Today, let’s take a closer look at the beautiful designs that adorned the runway at NYFW on Day 1 and Day 2!
ULLA JOHNSON
Johnson is a new designer to appear at NYFW, but it turns out she launched her collection 20 years ago. This season, she wanted to focus on optimism and women’s achievements and did so by incorporating trousers made from various materials into her collection.
TADASHI SHOJI
Shoji’s statement for this collection was to break the stereotype that women can’t be sexy and taken seriously at the same time. Instead of shaming women into more modest ensembles, he wanted to showcase outfits that were “bold and unapologetic.”
These look a little more on the calmer side, but if you want to see the entire collection, click here.
LANYU // DESIGNER: LAN YU
Yu is also a newcomer to NYFW after usually preferring Paris to share her pieces. This season’s line revealed velvety, silky, and sheer fabrics to showcase soft and elegant silhouettes. This makes for a light and feminine yet modern feel to the looks.
JASON WU
Jason Wu’s inspiration came from Italian architects and jewelry makers this season. There was also some Spanish influences and strong jewel hues used throughout the pieces. Overall, I liked the use of colors and mesh or nude turtlenecks to create the illusion of showing some skin. Many of the outfits also looked like elevated office looks (although they’d probably be more suited outside of desk work).
This concludes part 1 of my NYFW posts! Stay tuned for part 2 next week! Thanks so much for reading and I’ll see you soon!
