HAULED IT & TRIED IT | A HAIR CARE HAUL

Hello lovelies, today I have a hair haul to share with y’all! I usually don’t share hair products on my blog because I’m typically low maintenance with my hair, but today I wanted to share what I’ve bought in recent months to try out!

So I’ve actually been on a hair journey for a while now. I tried to train my hair a couple years ago by washing it every other day for a few months, but it made my hair the oiliest it’s ever been. When I went back to washing it daily, it never went back to normal and it always gets oily faster than it used to. Since then, I’ve been trying out different shampoos and conditioners with the hope that I can make my hair go back to the way it was before.

LOVE BEAUTY & PLANET SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER IN COCONUT WATER & MIMOSA FLOWER

After trying out several brands, I finally decided to test this one out and so far I like it! It’s the Love Beauty & Planet shampoo and conditioner; I purchased the volume and bounty set with the coconut water and mimosa flower scent. This is my second time purchasing this and I think it’s been helping my hair a lot. It’s sulfate-free, has a nice fragrance, and the biggest thing I noticed is that my hair looks different.

I’ve always liked my hair because it’s smooth, straight, and easy to style; I could roll out of bed and head out because it never looks messy. But this shampoo made my hair look even smoother, softer, and shinier! I’ve never seen these kinds of results from a shampoo before, especially considering that my hair is already pretty healthy. The only issue I have is that my scalp seems to get itchy at times (which is a problem I had with many shampoo brands) and my hair gets a little extra oily on certain days, but I’ve been overlooking it for now.

TRESEMME TRES MOUSSE EXTRA HOLD

Mousse isn’t a necessity in my hair care routine, but I tend to use it when I need to curl my hair. I find that it helps add texture and hold so that my curls stay in longer. I only had a couple chances to use it before quarantine and I haven’t styled my hair since then so I don’t have a strong opinion on it yet, but I plan on trying out new hairstyles soon!

TRESEMME THERMAL CREATIONS HEAT TAMER

This is the only heat protectant I’ve ever used and I don’t really see a reason to change it. I don’t know how effective heat protectant sprays are in general, so I stick to this one because it’s easy to use and it’s affordable. It has a light scent and I usually spray it all over my hair, brush it out, and then let it dry before styling (which doesn’t take long). I’ve even used it on days when I know I’ll be out in the sun all day, especially during the summer, because it literally gets so hot I feel like my hair is burning. Even if it’s meant for styling, I’d like to think that it can help protect my hair from the sun as well, haha.

KRISTIN ESS DAILY CLEANSING SHAMPOO AND SHINE ENHANCING CONDITIONER

Since I noticed that I had a couple small issues with the Love Beauty & Planet shampoo and conditioner, I thought I would take a break from it and try out another drugstore brand: the Kristin Ess Daily Cleansing Shampoo and Shine Enhancing Conditioner.

I first learned about Kristin Ess when I was watching a hairstylist on YouTube that I’ve followed for years. She made an unsponsored video about this brand and she has a similar hair type as me, which made me even more interested in trying it out.

So far, I also really like this shampoo and conditioner combo! I’ve been amazed that after trying out several different brands that didn’t work for me, I was able to find 2 brands that I like. I enjoy how it has no fragrance or added sulfates and it lathers well. I also see less oiliness when I use this and so far, I don’t feel very itchy either. I’m torn between the two shampoo brands so I guess I’ll have to keep testing both out!

SINCERELY JULES HAIR PINS

If you know me, you’ll probably know that I don’t do much to my hair. Most of the time, I leave it down because I don’t like the way it looks tied up and it’s usually straight. For photos, I try to curl it or braid it to make it wavy, but otherwise, I’m pretty lazy with my hair. Recently, I started looking into ways to switch up my hair without needing to curl it all the time or create intricate hairstyles.

These Sincerely Jules hair pins are from Target and I think they look really pretty. They come in silver, gold, and rose gold and have a wavy design to them that’s subtle but still adds an interesting detail to the hair. To be honest, I don’t think I like these because I have a hard time using them. It’s hard to keep them open when sliding it into my hair and it gets caught on my hair when taking them out, which can be painful. In addition, since my hair is on the softer and smoother side, they don’t stay in place very well. I’ll have to keep working with these since I don’t plan on returning them, so I’ll keep you updated if I find hairstyles that I can do with these!

DAISO SCRUNCHIE

And lastly, I got a scrunchie! I got this for the same reason that I purchased the hair pins; I wanted something to switch up my hair. Plus, scrunchies made a big comeback a year or two ago so it’s a great trendy piece that won’t break the bank (I also still have my scrunchies from middle school so it’s definitely a nostalgic throwback for me ?). So far, I’ve worn this once and I really like it! I don’t usually tie my hair up but it’s nice for a long drive to get my hair out of my face or on days where I don’t want to deal with my hair since it’s gotten quite long lately.

And that’s it for today’s haul! I hope you enjoyed reading and found it helpful; let me know what your favorite hair products are in the comments below! ?
