Hello lovelies! Welcome back to Makeup Monday; today I wanted to do a Colourpop haul with some of the items I bought from the Jenn Im and KathleenLights collection!
I bought some things from their collections because I love them both so I had to see what their collaborations were about! Plus, Jenn Im’s collection was ending and I was really interested in KathleenLights’ collaboration as well. So let’s get into it!
This is Alyssa from KathleenLight’s collection; it’s in the ultra satin lip formula and I really like how this feels on my lips. It’s a light pinky nude color.
Unfortunately, this color is a little too light for me, so I’m super disappointed since it looked amazing on her and I think it’s a really pretty shade. However, I think it can be solved by using less and layering a darker lip liner underneath, so I’ll let y’all know how that goes!
Next up, I purchased her eyeliner in Mr. Bing, which was also something I was really excited to use. Not only do I love the Friends reference, but on Kathleen, it looks like a red-brown color, which looked amazing to me.
I’ve never seen a color like that before and I read reviews on the website that it made most eye colors pop (excuse the pun haha), so I was really excited to try it.
Unfortunately, this did not live up to my expectations either. It came out as a regular brown color on me instead of the red-brown I was looking forward to.
However, there are good things to say about this liner. It doesn’t smudge too badly on the waterline and for the most part, the liner is visible throughout a full day, so I like that feature since most eyeliners I’ve tried so far don’t stay on my bottom waterline. Plus, it doesn’t irritate my eyes, which is great since my eyes are very sensitive to eyeliners and mascaras and I hate the idea of returning online orders.
I think it basically comes down to the fact that Kathleen is a much lighter skin tone than me. I knew she was lighter than me, but I didn’t expect there to be such a stark difference in skin tones. So that means that a beautiful pink color on her is too light on me and a red-brown eyeliner on her doesn’t show on my eyes.
Even though I wasn’t completely satisfied with the products I purchased from her collection, I would go back and look at other things, such as the lippie in November. I originally didn’t want to get that one because it looked too strong, but now I think it might work. So we’ll see!
Lastly, I picked up Un from Jenn Im’s Jenn Ne Sais Quoi collection! A part of me wishes I had just gone and gotten Dohee, but I heard that it was a very bright coral shade, so I didn’t end up getting it.
However, I don’t regret buying this shadow! This Super Shock shadow is a really pretty shimmery gold color and it looks nice alone or with a brown to warm it up and add dimension to your eyes.
The only thing I will say about it is that it seems to be more glitter than shimmer. The shimmer in this shadow is a bit chunkier than other shadows I’ve used when I put it on my eyes. But maybe the glitter helps it show up better in photos, although I haven’t tested that yet.
Overall, I do like this shadow and I think it’s going to be well used in the future!
And before I forget, here are the swatches! You can probably tell, but from left to right is the eyeshadow, liquid lipstick, and the eyeliner.
So that’s it for my Colourpop haul; I hope you liked it! Let me know what Colourpop products you’ve been loving in the comments below. Thanks for reading and I’ll see you lovelies soon!
