Hello lovelies, today I’ll be doing my monthly product review for the month of August!
This is one of my favorite purchases of the month and was also featured on my August Haul post. I was looking for a quirky t-shirt one day and when I found this, I ended up falling in love with it. I know it’s just a simple tee, but I like the font on it, the color, and the sarcastic question.
It’s one of those shirts that are supposed to reflect your mood or repel people and I think this shirt does just that in a cool, subtle way. Plus it’s casual enough to wear whenever you’re having a lazy day.
In terms of skincare, this is something I’ve been loving all summer and especially this month. I wrote about this in my most recent skin deep post on why you should have aloe vera in your skincare routine and I still feel the same way about it now.
It’s an aloe vera gel that smells amazing and I use it every morning and night on my face after I’ve washed it. I feel like my skin is super moisturized without feeling greasy and my face feels hydrated.
Some people complain about it being unhygienic since you would normally have to put your fingers inside the container, but I just use a small spoon that I got from those packs of lychee pudding (does anyone know what I’m talking about haha?). You can also use any small spoon (since you don’t need a lot for application) and designate it just for your aloe vera gel. I also use it on my body whenever I want a little moisture without the greasiness, although I don’t think this replaces a regular body lotion.
There are a lot of benefits to aloe vera and you can read about it here, but this has definitely been a favorite of mine this month. Plus, you get so much for what it’s worth, so it’ll definitely last for a long time and it’s a steal for the price.
This has been my favorite body spray of the month. This is called Sweet & Flirty and it’s from Victoria’s Secret. It has a sweet scent without being overwhelming and the bottle says it has sugar berry and pink grapefruit notes in the fragrance. I don’t know what else to say except I really like this scent and I’ve been wearing it like every day this month, haha.
I wanted to review this lipstick this month. This is the Maybelline Color Sensational lipstick in Clay Crush in the matte formula. I have mixed feelings about this lipstick.
On the one hand, I like the formula and the lipstick itself is good. But I just don’t know if it matches with my skin tone or not. Sometimes I feel like it looks good and at other times, I feel like it makes my skin look weird or it’s a little too orangey on my skin.
This is one of their nude lipsticks, but it’s on the warmer side. I’ve seen other people wearing this lip color and it looks great on them, but I’m just not sure about myself. I have a light to medium skin tone with warm undertones, so if you have the same complexion as me, then you might have the same situation.
I might change my mind later on, but these are my feelings about this lipstick right now. Maybe I’m just not used to nude lipsticks, but that’s my current opinion. Otherwise, if you love nude lippies, then maybe you should give this a try since I know it’s a popular lipstick. For now, I just mix it with different lipliners to alter the shade of the lipstick a bit. If I change my mind, I’ll let y’all know! What are your thoughts on this lipstick?
Going into more of a lifestyle product, this tumbler has been amazing for my life. I’m not sure what it is, but this has helped me drink so much more water!
My theory is that it’s all because of the straw. Much like how we can easily drink lots of soda at fast food places with a fountain drink cup and straws, I always find myself sipping on this tumblr. Whenever we go out to eat and order a drink with it, we keep drinking the soda as we’re eating and this is similar to it.
I don’t know if that made much sense or if it’s relatable, but basically I find myself drinking so much more water when I use this AND it holds 20 oz. of water, so just drinking 2 or 3 of these is more than enough water for the day. I would highly recommend having a tumbler and see if it increases your water intake; even if it doesn’t, you can always just put whatever you want in it, like iced tea or your favorite juice and take it on the go. It’s also one of those tumblers that has double layered insulation, so you can put ice cold drinks in here without having to worry about condensation on the outside of the cup!
And I forgot to take a picture of my last product (I’ll insert one later! edit: got the picture!), but I also wanted to review the Pixi Glow Tonic. I’ve been loving that product too!
I was curious after researching it since it’s a popular product and I’ve also been hearing good things about glycolic acid. I wanted to see what effects it would have on my skin and if it would even out my skin tone and lighten my scars. In my opinion, I think it did help my skin, although I’ve since run out of it and I need to repurchase it. I bought the smaller size bottle for $15 at Target and I plan on purchasing the same one again to check if it really does produce results before committing to a larger size.
When I was using it, I noticed that my skin looked cleaner and brighter and my acne scars seemed to fade just a little faster. It also didn’t dry out my skin like other toners might and I enjoyed the light scent. I didn’t break out from using this product and I only used this at night after cleansing my face.
So that’s my August product review! I hope you enjoyed it and it was helpful! Let me know what products you’ve been enjoying or disliked this month in the comments below! Thanks for reading and I’ll see you lovelies tomorrow!
I’ve seen so many good reviews of the pixi glow tonic recently and I really want to try it but I’ve never used a chemical exfoliant before and I’m so worried it’ll just break me out since my skin is so sensitive!! Do find it to be harsh on your skin at all?
Nope! It feels really nice on the skin, it doesn’t sting unless you’ve popped a blemish or something. It’s never broken me out and I’ve used up one whole bottle already!
