YES, NO, MAYBE SO | JANUARY 2016 MONTHLY PRODUCT REVIEW

Hello there lovelies! Here’s what I have and haven’t liked in January!

This is the NYC Instant Matte BB Cream in Medium. I bought it a while ago and I tested it out with mediocre results.

First off, the color selection is very limited so I feel like only very fair-skinned to lightly tanned people can use this product. Secondly, it provides almost zero coverage so I don’t really see a difference when I apply this.

I wasn’t expecting much since it’s a BB cream and not a foundation, but I thought it would at least even out my skin tone.

In the end, this would probably be a product I would use if I needed a very natural look. I’m currently using it in combination with my Revlon foundation to create lighter coverage and slightly lighten my foundation shade.

Overall, I don’t love this product and I won’t be repurchasing.

This will be a short and sweet review because I don’t have much to say about this product except I don’t really like the smell of this lotion. It also takes a while to sink into the skin so everything gets slippery and leaves fingerprints everywhere. Besides that, it does moisturize but I’m not sure if I would repurchase.

Rating: Maybe?

I’ve had this lip gloss for a while now, but I always forget how much I love it until I grab it randomly. This is a Revlon Colorburst lip gloss in Bordeaux.

When worn straight out of the tube, it’s a dark burgundy color with lots of shine. However, I wear it by applying it on my lips and then blending it out with my finger and it turns into a natural pink-red flush of color. I’ve been wearing this almost every day recently and I love how it looks.

Another gloss I’ve been loving has been this Almay one in Apple a Day. Normally, I’m not a lip gloss person but these ones are easy enough to work with so that I can blend them out and make them look more natural.

These Almay lip glosses are not pigmented, so I wouldn’t recommend them to people who love vibrant glosses. Instead, they add a tint of color and some shine. This red lip gloss translates into a light, juicy red on your lips which I personally like to add a little color into my face. I wore this lip gloss more often at the beginning of the month, but I still really like it.

For the longest time, I was hooked on a Hollister body spray called Seacliff Beach and it was my go-to scent, but recently I discovered this body spray from Bath and Body Works and I absolutely love it. It’s almost impossible for me to describe scents, but I really like this fragrance because it’s not too sweet or fruity.

I bought this eyeliner from Ulta a while ago and tested it out a few times. It’s a dark blue retractable pencil liner. I would get more of these since they’re so cheap, but I don’t think they’re worth the money. They’re not very pigmented and can break when using too much pressure. This could work in a pinch though if you can’t find your usual liner and need a natural look.

Not much to say about this except that it’s a favorite of mine! I bought it earlier this month at Disneyland since I’ve been eyeing it for about the last 6 months and I really like it. I love how simplistic it is and how it goes with a lot of things.

I was going to do a comparison post about these eyebrow spoolies, but I figured that would be pretty boring so I’ll just compare them here. The one on the left is from Sonia Kashuk and the other one is from E.L.F.

I used to use eyebrow brushes like the one from Sonia Kashuk, but after using the E.L.F spoolie, I prefer those now. The E.L.F one is also much more affordable than Sonia Kashuk.

However, if you also want something to separate your lashes when they get clumpy, the metal lash separator on Sonia Kashuk’s brush works really well.

Rating (Sonia Kashuk): Maybe?             E.L.F: Yes!

So did you notice the background for my flatlay photo at the beginning of the post? It looked like a nice, fuzzy rug right? WRONG, LOL. It’s actually the cardigan I’m wearing in the photo above! I haven’t had too many chances to wear this cardigan because it’s never cold enough in Southern California, but I really love it. I never thought I would be the type of person to wear this type of outerwear but I love how fuzzy this cardigan is. 🙂

I feel like this works best as a nighttime piece, but I was able to get away with wearing it during the day since I was in LA and we went to The Broad (see more here!). It’s pretty big on me even though it’s a size small, but I think as long as you wear a form-fitting outfit underneath, you won’t be swallowed up by it.

And my last favorite of the month would have to be my phone. It’s the Galaxy S6 and I got it last November. It’s very similar to the S5 but I like that I picked white this time because it looks clean and minimal. It runs out of battery faster than the S5 and it’s not waterproof but I basically love this phone because of its camera. I feel like I don’t need to bring my actual camera around because the camera on my phone is such high quality. Plus I’m just grateful that I have a smartphone to rely on because I use it a lot for school.

So those are the products I liked and disliked for the month of January! I hope this post was helpful in some way and that you enjoyed it. Thanks for reading and I’ll see you lovelies next week!
