Hello lovelies! It’s the last day of September, so you know it’s time for a monthly product review!
This is the NYC bronzing face powder in Sunny. It’s been a cult favorite in the YouTube and blogging world, and I can see why. This bronzer is a warm brown shade that naturally contours your face and adds warmth. You can create a light contour or build it up to be a little heavier for photos.
The only downside is that sometimes it looks a little bit too warm as a contour, so I might try looking for something more cool-toned in the future. But that’s why it’s called a bronzer in the first place; it’s not necessarily meant to contour, but to add warmth to your face. So keep that in mind if you’re thinking about picking this up!
Otherwise, it’s a great product for the price and I do enjoy using it, so I’ll definitely come back to it if I try out other products and don’t like them as much. Plus, I’m not one to splurge on the contour and highlighting products, so this is a good affordable product for me.
This is Sugared Grapefruit from Clinique’s Different lipstick collection. I believe this was the first lipstick I ever bought and I’ve repurchased since then. As I became addicted to lipsticks and expanded my collection, this one kind of stayed in the back and didn’t get much use, but it definitely made a comeback this summer.
It’s a beautiful mix of coral, pink, and orange and I think it’s a unique color. It looks natural but also gives such a nice flush to your lips and brightens up your face. It has a shimmer in it that usually I wouldn’t like in a lipstick, but it works in this formulation.
This is Nutty from Wet ‘n Wild. It’s a single eyeshadow and I was reaching for this a few times during the month as well. Although my Maybelline eyeshadow quad in Give Me Gold contains my most used eyeshadows right now, I did stray away from it a couple times this month for this shadow.
Nutty is a warm brown color with gold and sliver shimmer in it. It’s a great shade to use alone for a slightly smokey eye during the daytime because the gold shimmer and deeper brown creates several dimensions that allow it to be a smokey color on its own. Basically, this shadow creates its own highlight and contour, which I think is really nice.
You could also add other colors to build it up and make it more intense if you want to, but I like it for days when I’m in a rush and need to add dimension to my eyes without trying too hard.
It’s also super cheap; I personally think that Wet ‘n Wild’s eyeshadows are well worth the price. Not only are they affordable, but the shadows are super pigmented! I can’t wait to use the eyeshadow more in the future.
I wanted to talk about an eyeshadow primer I’ve been using for the last few months. It’s from Milani and I picked it up after my Wet ‘n Wild one ran out. This seems to keep my eyeshadows in place and my eye makeup applies well on top of it.
However, as I kept using this product, I noticed some downsides. The main one is that I finally realized that my eye makeup didn’t stay on as long as when I used the Wet ‘n Wild Fergie primer. I personally would prefer 8-10 hours of wear because I tend to wear makeup for 10-12 hours but this begins to make my eyeshadows crease after around 6 hours.
Then one day when I squeezed the tube, oil came out instead of the primer, which was 1) a little gross and 2) I’m not sure why there would be so much oil in a primer that’s supposed to keep your eyelids from getting oily (but maybe that’s just me not being educated enough on the ingredients). This was fixed easily just by shaking the tube a little bit, which is what I do now in case that happens again.
Overall, it’s not a bad primer, but it’s not something I would be running to repurchase or buying backups of. I would come back to it if I can’t find anything better, but I’ll probably look into more primers after this one has run out.
Here’s a skincare product I’ve fallen in love with in recent weeks. This is the Nature Republic sheet mask in Aloe and oh my goodness, I love it. I never understood why people liked sheet masks so much, but now I do.
I haven’t tried any other brands, but these are very saturated and leave your skin feeling moisturized afterwards. This one does smell a little bit more like chemicals than aloe vera, but I don’t mind too much because the scent isn’t too strong.
I don’t really know what else to say about them except that I love them and I love treating myself to one whenever I feel like my skin needs an extra boost. They’re quite inexpensive as well. Nature Republic sells them in packs of 10 for about $13, but they do have sales where they give you 10 more for free if you buy 10, so that would mean each mask is less than a dollar!
They come in other scents, so I want to try the other ones, but this one is my favorite so far!
I wanted to throw in a fashion product at the end of my review, so here’s the backpack I’m using for this school year. If you didn’t know, I’m currently in my last year of college, so I wanted to upgrade to a cute backpack, and I really like this one.
I got this backpack from Kohl’s online. At first, I was scared that I wouldn’t like it since I didn’t see it in person, but this backpack really does look the same on the website as it does in person. It’s a little roomier than my previous backpack which is what I was looking for and I love the design of it.
This backpack is a burgundy red color and it’s been quite sturdy so far. It also came with one of those black pom pom balls, but I decided to use that for my purse instead. Unfortunately, I just checked the website and I think it’s out of stock, but there are lots of backpacks with this design at the moment, so it’ll be quite easy to find one similar to this.
So that’s my product review for this month! I know literally everyone says this, but I can’t believe another month has come and gone and now there’s literally only 2 months before 2016 ends. All of a sudden, I feel like I’ve done a lot this year and not enough at the same time, but that’s a topic for another day.
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this post and I’ll see you lovelies soon!
