L’OREAL INFALLIBLE PRO MATTE FOUNDATION REVIEW

Hello lovelies, I’m back! Today I thought I would do a review on the foundation I’m currently using!

So I took some time off because I recently moved home after my graduation. I had so much unpacking to do since I was combining my college belongings with my previous items!

I’ve literally been organizing for over a week and my room is finally looking decent. I also had a lot of decluttering to do since the things I left behind 4 years ago had to be reassessed to see if I still needed them. So that’s what I’ve been up to, now let’s get into the review!

WHAT IT CLAIMS TO DO

The L’Oreal Pro Matte 24 Hour foundation is supposed to feel light on the skin while providing medium coverage with a demi-matte finish. It claims to have “Shine Defying Blotting Spheres” that can absorb sweat and oil without disturbing the coverage. It currently comes in 12 shades with the lightest being Classic Ivory 101 and the darkest being Cocoa 112.

MY SKIN TYPE

I know I write this in every single review post, but it’s important! I have sensitive, oily, and acne-prone skin.

TEXTURE/HOW IT FEELS ON THE SKIN

When you squeeze the foundation onto the back of your hand, the formula is quite thick. It might run a little bit, but chances are, if you were to move your hand around, it won’t slip off your hand very easily.

When I go to apply this foundation, I first use my finger to smooth out the product on my hand and then apply it to my face. I always buff it in with my Real Techniques Expert Face brush (I’m probably one of the few people that doesn’t own a beauty blender yet!), and I use a patting technique instead of rubbing it into my skin so I can get decent coverage from it.

COVERAGE

This foundation has medium coverage, so there is some truth to their claims. Since my skin is currently less problematic than it usually is, it goes on quite smoothly and I just need it to cover my acne scars and even out my skin tone.

It dries pretty quickly, so you have to work quickly with it, but the coverage is definitely buildable.

I find that this product dries to a demi-matte to matte finish. Because of that, it can look cakey in real life if you apply too much, but it photographs nicely. I personally aim to have my foundation look as natural as possible, so I like to use a setting spray or a natural-looking highlighter on top.

THE VERDICT

I’ve been using this foundation for the last 4 months and it’s the best one I’ve tried so far. It keeps me matte for about 3 to 4 hours, which doesn’t seem like very long. However, after that point, I start to look glowy, but in a good way. It starts to look more natural and blends into my skin better. By the 6 to 7 hour mark, that’s when I would blot, usually with my Sephora blotting sheets, and I would be good to go for another 2 to 3 hours!

So if you place that within a 6-10 hour work or school day, this foundation can definitely stand up to the test! Granted, I always make sure to powder and use a mattifying setting spray afterwards to make sure it lasts on my oily skin because I have noticed my foundation separating if I don’t set my face. It also hasn’t broken me out, which is a plus!

Overall, I’ve really been enjoying this foundation and I wonder how it’s going to work in the upcoming summer heat. I don’t expect much since I live in an area where it can get up to over 100 degrees in the summer, but we shall see!

I enjoy the coverage, the matte finish, and how long it lasts on my skin. I do wish it came in a larger color selection, although I am grateful for the more yellow-toned foundations that drugstore foundations always seem to be missing. The other thing I have noticed is that you look a little paler in flash photography, although there isn’t supposed to be any SPF in this foundation. But that can probably be solved with some bronzer to warm up the skin!

Thank you so much for reading today! If you have any foundation recommendations for oily skin let me know in the comments section, and I’ll see you lovelies tomorrow!
